ACD Photo Editor is the essential photo editing software for quickly correcting and enhancing digital photos. The ACD Photo Editor user interface provides convenient access to editing tools and effects, and is highly customizable. The following sections include descriptions for each ACD Photo Editor user interface component, and links to further information.
Main display area
You can use the main display area to view, modify, and enhance your images with ACD Photo Editor tools and effects. When working with ACD Photo Editor editing tools, you can use the Current and Preview tabs in the upper-left corner of the display area to switch between your original image and your changes. You can also use the Compare button on the Common Tasks pane to toggle the display between Current and Preview.
Toolbars
You can use the ACD Photo Editor Main and Drawing toolbar buttons to access common tasks and tools. When you open a multiple-page image, the Page toolbar is displayed. You can customize toolbars to suit your editing needs.
Image Browser
You can use the Image Browser as a convenient and customizable central 'basket' in which you can temporarily store images from different folders for viewing, enhancement and printing.
Status bar
You can use the Status bar, located at the bottom of the Browser window, to see the processing progress of an image, as well as information about images, menu items, and toolbar buttons.
Common Tasks panel
You can use the customizable Common Tasks panel to quickly access common ACD Photo Editor tasks and tools and their related options. When you start ACD Photo Editor, the panel displays the Startup Tasks area. After you open an image, the panel displays three areas: Editing Tasks, Editing Tools, and File Tasks. You can hide or display an area by clicking its title.
Survey panel
You can use the customizable Survey panel to navigate a zoomed image. When you zoom in on an image using the Zoom tools or the panel's slider, the panel displays your image with a rectangular marquee. The marquee indicates the part of your image that appears in the display area. You can drag the marquee on the image in the survey panel to display its contents in the display area. You can also quickly resize the image by clicking the Best Fit or Actual Size button on the panel.

You can start ACD Photo Editor in two convenient ways. After you have successfully installed the program, ACD Photo Editor places application icons on the desktop and in the Start menu.
To start ACD Photo Editor, do one of the following:
Double-click the ACD Photo Editor icon on the desktop.
Click Start | Programs | ACD Systems, and select ACD Photo Editor.
To start more copies of ACD Photo Editor:
Click Window | New Window for each copy you require.
Note:
You can copy and paste selections from one ACD Photo Editor window to another.

To view and edit your images with ACD Photo Editor, your system must at minimum include the following:
